Shawn has taught grad students and adult professionals for over twenty-five years. Shawn began teaching for the Center for Professional and Executive Development (CPED), formerly known as Executive Education, at the University of Wisconsin School of Business in 2001. From this early start as one of a group of instructors developing and teaching a class on managing multiple projects, Shawn’s engagement with this course evolved to that of lead instructor teaching two of three days of this course. This early work formed the foundation of Shawn's academic career that now spans multiple countries and institutions.
In 2011, Shawn collaborated with CPED to develop their first course on agile project management techniques. This course rapidly became a popular open-enrollment course and the most popular custom course offered by CPED through early 2020. During the pandemic, Shawn collaborated with CPED on a scrum certification track and developed courses for business analysts working for the state of Wisconsin. Shawn has developed and delivered numerous custom course development and consulting engagements in partnership with CPED.
Shawn will be the lead instructor for CPED’s Planning, Scheduling, and Control and Program and Portfolio Management courses starting in mid-2026.
